My dear Priscilla flew up to visit me for a few days and we had such a great weekend of sightseeing around D.C., shopping, and... MUD RACING!
We did the 2010 Run-Amuck Mud Race. It is a obstacle course 5K with 2 huge mud pits, rope obstacles, climbing walls, crawling obstacles, and more with the culmination of a mud bath. We entered the Costume Doubles Race and Priscilla made great shirts for us; we went with the the theme "Texas chicks: Birds of a feather flock together!" Thus, the feathers in the Texas hat and the orange legs!

I wish you could see all the obstacles, but you only get the beginning and the end. I will say that the mud pits were much crazier than I thought. The mud was the consistency of really thick brownie dough. If you tried to walk in the mud, you would sink up to your waist and many people were actually stuck in the mud! So you had to army crawl the whole way- it was way fun but we were way muddy even before the mud bath!
Here is the last mud bath at the finish line. I got completely drenched! It didn't taste too great but I was still smiling and having fun!

YAY! We are the winners!
There were a lot of great costumes in my fellow racers (obviously not as amazing as ours!), but I thought you all might enjoy the honorable mentions.
We had such a great time the entire weekend and I am so grateful that Pris was able to come and visit me! I love you Prissy!

Such great pictures!! We did one of those a couple years ago and I don't think you can truly appreciate what it's all about until you've done it. It was crazier than I expected and it looks like yours was also :) So fun! Great job Heather!
How FUN! I love your costumes too.
can I just say how proud I am of you!! Look at you Heath...a rock star runner!! :) I tried so hard in college...I guess you just needed a little Todd in your life! :)
You and Ro definitely gave me some starting sparks-- but like all things I have to be poked and prodded a long time before something sticks! Thanks for those sparks!
Love the outfits! You guys are so cute! Leaping in the Mud is my favorite action shot. I love the Gnomes too and the barrel of monkeys!
