Even though not all the leaves were in full color, some trees had started to turn bright yellow, red, and orange. It was beautiful.
Old Rag is the highest mountain in the area, so the views are pretty stunning.
A little over 1 mile of the 7.5 mile hike is what is called a "rock scramble." It's not quite full-on rock climbing, but it did entail scrambling up, down, and around small-house-sized boulders. Naturally, we loved this part.

The hike is one large loop. The section on the way down was much less exciting compared to the rock scramble on the way up, but it was still very pretty.

How fun! We loved Shenandoah when we visited there. There are some wonderful cabins and camping areas. We stayed in a cabin once and had a great time. We'd love to go back sometime...
I think we were in the Shenandoah's at the same time, why didn't we hook up? Oh that's right, you don't have a motorcycle.....Ken would be embarrassed to be seen with you :)
You weren't lying, that really is so gorgeous. I want to go on a hike with you guys. I haven't been on one since before we got married. You know, between the whole school, sports, and kids thing, we haven't had much time. Plus, Nate isn't really a hiker and I miss it!
