Lorena's Baptism

Hello everyone! So I have now transitioned to trying to write blog entries all by myself. I am sure Todd will chime in to write every so often still (especially when I am behind) but I am now officially in charge-- at least that's what Todd is trying to convince me. Well- I'll just do my best.

So recently, we have had a lot of great things happen. First of all, we have some very good news about our neighbor who is now one of my best friends here. Lorena Roderick and I met on Elliana's blessing day. She was playing outside with her kids when we were outside with all the family in town. We met as she was stopped by the sister missionaries to know more about our church. Lorena said that at first she didn't want to know anything because she was sure that Mormons were wierd and cultish but now she laughs about those thoughts and she is so glad she let them come over later. Todd and I got to sit in on many of the lessons she received from the missionaries all about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Lorena and I also got to have some great talks and still do as we run with our strollers three times a week.

Lorena is just golden though. She said she started feeling the Holy Ghost from the first discussion and when they asked her if she would be baptized, she said that she was a little nervous but just felt that it was right. Since then, I have loved seeing how much joy and peace the Gospel has brought into Lorena's life. It has been such a beautiful transformation and she has had many prayers answered and a lot of comfort from Heavenly Father as she has had to overcome some trials. Todd had the opportunity to baptize and confirm her and I was able to give the talk on the Holy Spirit. She shared her testimony at the baptism and the next day during fast and testimony meeting. It was one of the sweetest and purest testimonies I have heard in a long time. She has a testimony that the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Book of Mormon are true and she is so ready to do whatever the Lord has in store for her. Her enthusiasm is contagious and I have definitely felt the Spirit more in my life as I have shared in this experience with her.

Here we are before her baptism with the sister missionaries to the left.

Pretty cool huh!

What a happy wonderful experience that you got to be so much a part of! Congratulations to your friend! Converts are a wonderful reminder of how lucky we all are to be members in Christ's Church.
