Williamsburg
One of the perks of living in DC is being able to visit Alyson, Nate, and the kids so easily. A few days ago, Heather and I went down and spent the weekend with them. It was a really laid back and nice mini-vacation. We played Turbo Cranium, watched numerous episodes of Arrested Development, and I whooped up on Nate on the Wii. (Of course, he creamed me twice as much as I spanked him, but still, it's improvement!) On Saturday, we also went to Williamsburg. For those who don't know, Williamsburg has been restored back to its colonial look. So about two mainstreets and several side streets are lined with authentic buildings dating back to the early 1700s. People from the area (I think a mix of volunteers and employees) dress up in colonial era clothes and pretend to be from the time (a lot like Benjamin Franklin in that one Office episode). They hold witch trials, public auctions, and even have people driving really extravagant carriages. It feels a lot like being transported back in time, or at least to a historical movie set. It was fun. I highly recommned it to anyone passing by the area.
