Well, it was an usual Thanksgiving for the Woodruff brood this year. Due to some lucky flights and long driving, almost all of us were able to gather at Sarena and Adam's house this year. Unfortunately, Tyson, Diana, Mom, and Dad couldn't join us. Maybe next year.
We kept ourselves pretty busy throughout the week. One of the highlights for me was the Basketball Hall of Fame. Adam, Kyle, Nate and I played an intense game of two on two that left us all either limping or practically blind (hope your eye is feeling better, Nate). Which was great preparation for our ~5 mile run the next morning. Luckily, the icy hot and heating pads were enough to loosen up our muscles to enjoy the run. Speaking about the run, we were all amazed by how many people attended the run. From start to finish, we were constantly dodging side to side weaving through the running horde. We probably ran an extra 2 miles laterally, but the live bands along the way and the people wearing costumes (loin-cloth Indian man, man babies, the UPS guys) made it all worthwhile. In total, we heard there were over ten thousand people who ran that day. Pretty amazing. To hit some of the other highlights, there were turkey-cookie making, indoor family soccer, an enormous "Duck, Duck, Goose" game with Treyton acting as an extra obstacle, intense Wii matches, and of course, traditional speed Scrabble and Scum. Oh, and finally, thanks to Nate's limber construction moves, we helped finish Adam's treefort and clear a large portion of woods from dead trees, fallen branches, and annoying scrub bushes. It was a great holiday break, and Heather and I hope we can all get together again some day for the holidays.
